Are you a student or a professional into coding or cybersec?

Solve three CTF (Capture the Flag) challenges to unlock extra code challenge input files and use your favourite programming language to compete against developers from all around the world solving algorithm-based puzzles.

What's the challenge about?

The Hack the Code Challenge is an international team-based competition mixing coding and cyber security. Teams will have 6 hours to solve an algorithm-based problem using a specified input file format and a few scoring rules. Some input files will be available from the beginning of the challenge. Extra input files can only be unlocked by completing CTF (Capture the Flag) challenges in the following categories: Miscellaneous, Crypto, and Web.

Unlocking these files will give the chance to get more points.

STANDARD ED.
Open to all code and cyber security enthusiasts aged 16 or older, with logical mathematical problems to solve by writing an algorithm in any programming language along with CTF challenges in the categories of Misc, Crypto and Web.
REPLYERS' ED.
An exclusive edition for Replyers with the same rules as the external competition, featuring a dedicated leaderboard and unique prizes.

Register by 11th March, 23:59 CET, choosing the category that best fits for you.

While registering, tell us the name of your University to join the University Students' League and try to win a Reply Arcade Game or a financial donation for a research project.

Form your team online

To compete you have to form a team from 1-6 members.

  • If you already know some good coders and security experts, create your own team and invite your friends.

  • Otherwise search for and meet new teammates from all over the world on the Discord server.

No worries! No matter how good you are at coding and security, learning is always the key for improvement. Access exclusive learning material to get ready for the next challenge.

Breaking news

On March 12, at 15:30 CET, we’ll publish the problem statement on your challenge page and you'll have 6 hours to play. Some input files will be available from the beginning of the challenge. Unlocking these files will give the chance to get more points.

A leaderboard will be regularly updated to show how your and other teams are performing.

One week after the challenge day the final leader board will be published together with the best solutions. Each member of the winning team will get a reward of:

How will we get updates about the Reply Hack The Code Challenge?

You’ll get some emails before and after the challenge, so check your mailbox regularly. You can always message the Reply Code Masters & Keen Minds during the challenge via chat if you have questions.

What should our source code look like?

Your team can use publicly released libraries and tools, but your solution must use original code. To be valid, every submission must include a file containing the source code of the program you developed to generate the output. Each source code file must be a UTF-8 plain text file or an archive of UTF-8 files.

Who wins?

At the end of the game, the Reply Code Masters & Keen Minds will review and validate the best scoring submission from top-ranked teams on the leaderboard. The Reply Code Masters’ & Keen Minds' decisions regarding the rules of the coding competition are final.
